Barefoot and Goggles

Hi again,

This post is connected with my previous post : http://seedsofdesignbydulki.blogspot.com/2013/08/barefoot.html

As I already described, the project was to conduct a detailed analysis of the location we selected. I was given to work on the interior elements at the Barefoot.

This is the presentation board I came up with.

A common feature recognizable in interior elements at Barefoot is the old and rustic appearance. One can notice many antique pieces within the premises. They offer traditional and ancient feelings to the foreigners who visit the place. It could also be mentioned that the antique pieces represent the wealthy life styles of the local customers who can often afford things which are expensive like antiques.

On the way to the shopping area, there is an antique cabinet with wonderful carvings and vibrant colors which have now faded away with time. One can notice some more antique furniture inside the book stall as well. Not only wooden but also, stone statues are kept throughout the premises. These statues are mostly of Hindu Gods. For example, Lord Shiva and Lord Ganpathi.

The wooden and leather chairs in the outside cafeteria are exposed to sun thus resulting in a rustic and untidy appearance which is not very pleasant. This could be an another instance where aging is used. For example, the technique of faux aging. But this technique is not followed well. What has been done is keeping the furniture like wood and leather which have to be kept inside, outside and thus they have got the rustic and untidy look. Whatever they have intended has not come out in a successful way as it should be in the original faux finishing technique which is more complete and an attractive one.
